What we do on a service
We tailor our services to your vehicle. The operations we perform are dependent on the age and previous service history of your vehicles aircon system. We don't just re gas for fun and then charge you for something you didn't need! We have three basic air-con service schedules.
Service A
This is the smallest of the services we offer. We recommend this service when a vehicle reaches two years old or when the vehicle concerned has had one of our B type service two years previously. The checks are as follows:-
- Performance test
- Identify refrigerant
- Check/replace pollen filter
- Check heater/air conditioning controls
- Check drive belt condition and tension
We compare the outside air temperature (ambient temp) to the inside air temperature (cabin temp). We also monitor how quickly the air temperature drops inside the vehicle.
We use a special piece of equipment to test the refrigerant in your air con system. This tells us how much moisture (air) is in the system and also the refrigerant type. If the air condition system contains large amounts of air then we will de-gas and vacuum the system to remove moisture and we advise a new filter drier. Please note that if the refrigerant is contaminated and less than 98% pure R134a then we will have to remove this and have it dealt with by a specialist company. This will incur extra cost though an estimate will be given before work commences.

We check that every thing works as it should
A loose belt won't drive the compressor properly, a tight belt will put loads on the compressor bearings and clucth, no belt - wont work :-)
